Report # 889
Finally a super nice day ! Unfortunately it had to fall on a Monday while almost everyone was working or in school, but other than that today was super nice. It was warm and sunny and just a great June day. Sunday wasn't too bad either, though Saturday really wasn't that warm. I think it will be rainy again over the next couple of days, so hopefully everyone in here enjoyed this lovely Monday.
On Saturday I talked to my grandmother and got my trip to Calgary booked. I have actually booked all of my flights for August now. My last day at work here will be Tuesday August 7. I was going to leave on the previous Friday, but seeing as Monday is a holiday, by sticking around until the 7th, I'll only have to work one more day and I'll be paid for two, so it makes sense. I will fly to Calgary on August 8 and then come back home on the 17th.
I will spend a couple of days at home and then on Monday August 20, I will be flying to Mexico City. On August 21 I will be flying to Hermosillo, Sonora to spend a few days with a friend I met in Vancouver last year. On August 25 I will fly back to Mexico City and spend sometime there with Dora before going to Michoacán. From there on it will all be a mystery to what will happen, but I suppose that is part of the adventure.
On Saturday evening I walked up to Village Sushi and had some Japanese food. I ate way too much as those teriyaki dinner boxes come with a bit of everything. I could have definitely done without eating the deep fried vegetables ! On Sunday I went for a run in the morning and for another walk in the evening. My grandmother came over for dinner and we had some sort of roast with the family.
Work went pretty well today. Tomorrow I have tons of invoices to mail out, but after tomorrow I should be 100 % caught up and everything will be back to normal. Recently I had read a story online about US track and field athlete Lolo Jones and how she is almost 30 years old and still a virgin. Obviously things like this should usually be private issues and not in the news, but the fact that a story has been made about this is very interesting.
I first off have to say that it's so refreshing to hear about someone who has such convictions and can actually live by them. And of course any person who can't respect those type of convictions really are not going to be the right person for her, or anyone else who has similar beliefs, to be with. The fact that she has stated there are some guys who didn't return her calls when they found out just shows what kind of losers a lot of men are.
I am sure she is not alone and there are a number of people around the same age who are also virgins, and not because they can't get a date and have an opportunity to have sex, but because they choose to wait until after marriage. Now I have faith, but I am not associated with any actual religion, and I don't think it's a bad thing if two people who are in love find themselves ready to have sex when they are in a committed relationship, yet not married, however I totally respect the people who want to wait.
If I had been in a situation with anyone who was older and still a virgin because they have decided to wait, it wouldn't bother me at all. I was a virgin until I was 23, and I still think that's longer than the majority of the people in the world ! I think Lolo Jones has done a cool thing by talking about this, even though it is entirely a private and personal thing. She will show many other people they are not alone and there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a virgin and deciding to wait until marriage.
The only people who would truly ridicule a person for believing in something like that are just a bunch of narrow minded losers who obviously care about one thing way more than the more important things in life. They are one dimensional individuals who clearly are missing the main points of being in a loving relationship and respecting the views of their partner. So in the end those who are waiting until they find their special someone, a special someone who will be supportive of their views, they will be doing themselves a favour by not lowering their standards and ending up with some sex crazed maniac.
In the case of Lolo Jones, I think she should be applauded for talking about this in such a public way.... that's certainly not something a lot of people would be able to do. At the end of the day, she's a great athlete with great morals, and like many other people out there in a similar situation, she is waiting to find a special someone who will respect her and her beliefs while being a great partner and not making a deal out of something that shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately for too many people in the world, these standards seem too hard to meet.
For the next question:
What are your thoughts on virginity and waiting until marriage to have sex ? Would it bother you to date a virgin at this point in your life ? Do you feel that Lolo Jones has done a good thing with talking about this in the media ?
I'll leave you all with some more pictures from my trip through Chihuahua. I hope you all are having a great start to the week. Take care and I'll talk to you all on Thursday, bye for now.

I'm not really sure why she revealed that? I don't think that it's a bad thing at all, but I'm curious what prompted her to reveal it. Anyways I wouldn't mind dating a virgin. It really wouldn't matter to me how many sexual partners a guy has. There are so many more important things than that. As for waiting until marriage, I've had sex and I'm not married, so I clearly didn't wait. However, I think it's awesome that people do wait, whether it's for a religious reasons or not. I mean that's something great to experience with only one person.
I think sex is a private subject and shocking to hear an athlete talk about it to the public. I don't think it's wrong though. I have 2 friends who are waiting until marriage. I respect their wishes and what they want really is good in the end.
I also feel as if it is a private matter and that it really shouldn't be discussed in public.
If someone wants to talk about it, go for it! right? LOL
It is a private matter but its up to that person since its their private matter.
so cool. All those travelings that you are doing!
Lucky.
I hope you have a great August. Its sounds like you will!
